Shepherd’s Family Fishing Club is an exclusive first class fishing facility located near Lafayette, LA. We offer the best private fishing experience in the Acadiana area. In business since 1989, Shepherd’s is a unique family oriented fishing club that has geared its facility to accommodate any level of fisherman, from small children to the most experienced of anglers. We even guarantee that your children will catch fish even if they don’t know how.

We currently offer two different memberships. Bank fishing and boat lake memberships are available. You will experience relaxation in a peaceful picturesque setting.

Our bank fishing facility consist of 7 different lakes & ponds spread out over 12 acres of golf course manicured grounds. Picnic tables, park benches, swings, many shade trees and fish cleaning tables are provided for your enjoyment.  Our members also have access to our RV camp ground.

Our world class 16 acre lake has an intricate, maze-like system of levee’s  as well as professionally engineered structure on the bottom of the lake. This world class lake has depths from 3 to 18 feet with built in 24 hour aeration systems. You no longer have to run all over the country looking for good fishing. When you put your boat on this lake your search is over. We have totally redesigned this 10 year old lake using all modern day technology and our 17 years of hands on knowledge and experience. We also have added by popular demand sac-a-lait into this lake. There is an occasional waiting list, so call today for lake availability.

Available with your private membership is year round fishing of bass, bream & sac-a-lait during day light hours. It doesn’t matter whether you are fishing with a rod and reel, jig fishing or fly fishing you’ll find the exciting fishing experience that you have been looking for at Shepherd’s Family Fishing Club.

Offering a large variety of pond fish, Shepherd’s, Acadiana’s Fish Hatchery specializes in selling fish for pond stocking such as bass, bream, hybrids, and fathead minnows.

 

Hybrid Bream are available and can be stocked at the rate of 1,000 per acre for ponds not providing food or aeration, 2,000 – 3,000 bream per surface acre for ponds that are fed, or up to 5,000 bream per surface acre for ponds that are both fed and aerated. If looking to mix bream with other fish, they are compatible with Bass. Shepherd’s Hatchery is a fish farm that sells bream for pond stocking that are vigorous feeders and aggressive biters; which is the perfect combination for freshwater anglers.

 

If considering stocking bass, they must be stocked with bream. If adding Largemouth Bass to ponds, all fish need to be large enough so the Largemouth won’t eat them. These fish have been known to have cannibalistic tendencies, so owners will need to provide grass or other types or brush coverings for young offspring.

Fathead Minnows are popular in Southern ponds for pond stocking, they are important members of the food chain, as these minnows prey on insects and are then themselves preyed on by larger fish.
